« Genève doit revoir sa copie », Le Journal de l’Immobilier, 07.05.2025
In the popular vote of June 2023, the people of Geneva approved the latest amendments to the law on the fiscal valuation of certain properties (LEFI 2022) and the law on the taxation of individuals (LIPP).
However, these revisions were challenged on the grounds of a systematic undervaluation of the properties concerned, which was found to be incompatible with federal law. The Swiss Supreme Court upheld the challenge and, in its ruling of 28 February 2025, annulled certain provisions of the adopted amendments.
As a result, the Grand Council will have to revise LEFI 2022 once again, with the risk that the new draft will again be subject to a referendum or legal challenge.
