Art transactions – risks and responsibilities

11 JANUARY 2024

Spotlight on the new publication “Art transactions – risks and responsibilities“, edited by Anne Laure Bandle. In this volume, she has contributed a chapter on forgeries and issues of authentication of works of art.

Focusing on legal aspects, this book explores the main risks that can arise in art transactions and addresses the fundamental concepts of good faith and duty of care incumbent on the purchaser of a work of art.

The fate of art looted during the Second World War and cultural property from decolonised countries is also discussed. For the first time, the role and responsibilities of brokers acting as intermediaries are analysed in detail from the perspective of Swiss law.

The book includes an examination of international mutual assistance in criminal matters and presents the relevant case law. Finally, it deals with digital works and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from a technical and legal perspective.

This publication is part of the Series in Art Law and was recently published by Helbing Lichtenhahn.
